The Fig-leaved Goosefoot in particular
was taken by surprise by the October snow.
Where other Chenopods stand mostly straight
mostly leafless by now,
seeds gone (or going) to the sparrows
the Fig-leaved looks like shock preserved
with dry leaves and tips all adroop.
Nothing there for the sparrows, I suspect.
