Ligustrum vulgare
Liguster i april

Eva Ekeblad, 2002

In the unkempt strip by the throughfare
it's difficult to know
whether shrubbery is there
with or without managerial intention.
Some of it must be planted as screen
- those will be, I think, the groups
standing on a line (even if the line is jiggly)
or on the dots of an imaginary grid
to form a dense patch.

But, who knows?
they may have flung out
additional odd items at random...

... though when I see a singleton like this Privet
I tend to blame the gluttonous birds
or remaining root fragments in soil filling
or whatever manner of selfperpetuation
is preferable for the shrub in question.

This S-weed is #400, according to my current count
- well above the goal of 365, imagined in July
but since there may be a questionable case or two (like Coreopsis A and B)
I will be looking for another shrub or two (the safest bets for new stuff at this chilly moment)
