Common Ragwort, Göteborg, November 11th, 2002

Senecio jacobaea
Stånds i maj, i augusti och i april

Eva Ekeblad, 2002

The Ragwort seems to hold its own against the grass
though I still doubt it will have a chance to flower (next year)
so I borrow some extraterritorial material
from central Göteborg,
the September evening of the guided botanical tour.

In the United Kingdom the Common Ragwort
is listed in the Weed Act as an Injurious Weed
and I understand that in truth, it could be called Horsebane
they won't eat the stuff when it's green
but the poisonous alkaloids are stable in withered materials
which do not taste as bitter. Equine accidents happen.
