Common Storksbill

Avena sativa
Havre i juli och i februari

Eva Ekeblad, 2001

One of my neighbours asked if I really find new weeds every day. And thinking of the whole enterprise, winter and all, I answered honestly, that no, I don't.

Then, afterwards, as I keep discovering different S-weeds within the boundaries I have drawn, I wonder... and when I consult my database it tells me that from May and on through the summer there is, indeed, an average of slightly more than one new S-weed presented on these pages every day.

The Oat: hiding in the embrace of the fir at the entrance to the next cluster of buildings.
The Storksbill: at the taxi station down by the Mall. In California it goes by the name of Redstem Filaree - my copy of Weeds of the West gives Storksbill as the non-standard name.
