Not much left of the Heath Violet in August, just enough for a very small sample.
I scanned these sprigs, with a withered flower and some green seed pods, in June, but had too many other things on the schedule. Then, a little later, the weeding patrol struck the corner of the mall parking lot where the violets had settled. Growing in the shelter of the hedge was not enough protection, then - although it would seem a pretty good tip for the Weed Survival Handbook.
Today I read in my morning paper that now the summer job period is over, for all the youth employed on the township program. I see: reduction of the weed patrol.
