Purple Viper's Bugloss, Göteborg, September 1st, 2001

The Bugloss in July, was a minature stray in a well mowed lawn.
The sprig of today - scanned from two angles -
came from a sizeable tuft on the corner opposite the taxi station, down by the Mall
just where one of the piles of temporarily torn up cobblestones were stored
under a green (cyan?) tarpaulin the last week of May.

I was there after the showers today.

How pretty, she said, over my shoulder, as I took the picture
yes, but there's a viper in its name, said I
waiting until well after she had passed by
so as not to have to face another suspicion of robbing the flowerbeds
when actually sampling weeds

Echium plantagineum
Blå snokört i juli

Eva Ekeblad, 2001

A footnote from November:
The Echium plantagineum, being an annual, this tuft at the taxi station did not recover after the lawn mowing in the beginning of September. Although it is a frequent guest where new soil has been added in Göteborg urban spaces, it is not likely to spread as it has done in Australia, where it is eloquently named Paterson's Curse.
