Common Horse-chestnut, Göteborg, February 19th, 2002
For botanical purposes
this is not enough
to say there is Horse-chestnut growing here
as an escape from cultivation.
For S-weed purposes
the mere effort at new life is worth a mention.

The Horsechestnuts don't blow in the wind like the
Maple, and so will mostly end up within lawnmower reach. Here, in the
North-east corner of my block, is a patch where shrubs may give them
some shelter. And competition.
By chance and circumstance of the day and the time the picture shows the S-weed turf in shadow, with bright sunlight over the wooded area outside the boundary of my current rule.
