The Old New lawn, November, 2000

The New Lawn was not much of a lawn at all to start with ‚ rather an untended, strip of open, mostly packed, soil, bordering on the parking lot for the block closest to the Mall. This parking lot had been used as a temporary bus center in the summer of -99, while there was reconstruction work on the old bus center. Weed growth here in the autumn of 2000 was less impressive than in the Goosefoot Paradise, but there were some nice surprise splashes of colour, like the flowering Corn Marigold and a fair stand of Wild Radish.
