Under the oak by the mall in January
The birds have found the acorns before me -
I find nothing but empty shells.

In the shelter of my balcony
acorns are growing in three flower pots -
the oak being one of the few deciduous trees that can be used for bonsai.

There the roots are growing:

Three oak plantlings in one of the three pots
survived the summer, and are now,
a year later, having their second winter nap.
