continuation
of findings from the new lawn:
do not eat these fruits
The Nicandra, while named Poison-berry in some languages, is only moderately poisonous, if I'm to believe the Web. The Datura is a nastie. Smells like peanut breath, it does, too.
It's almost three months now, since the top layer of soil was replaced in this patch - incidentally, this was where I also found the corn marigold presented on last year's page

- it's gone with the old soil now, but while the grass is growing tender, the patch in its new incarnation has certainly turned out to contain much more fun and surprises than I expected.
As a footnote to the Datura (courtesy of Erik Ljungstrand) this specimen
on my turf is the variety with violet flowers: Datura stramonium
var. tatula - which shows in the violet tinge of the stem and
nerve. There's another bud, but it will only open by
night.
