Thorn-apple, Göteborg, November 14th, 2001
today, just like yesterday
pockets of frost remaining in patches of shadow
from morning through to afternoon.
the thornapple in the new lawn
has been frozen since that night of snow
its second bud never got to open
so
here it is.

As I walk down to the mall
for my grocery shopping
I check how the S-weeds are faring
- it's not like they're all wilted now
just that for these rare visitors
I want to give page space for recording them
as they go
- and so there's less room for the hardier stuff.
so
here it is.

The speedwell here to the right
is the sixth kind of Veronica
on my list
I didn't find it today:
it was taken the day after the first light frost
but I wasn't sure of the identification
with just the inanimate helpers (books)
- had first to get around to sending
an electronic image question to Erik Ljungstrand.
And small as it is, it hid from view today
out there - which doesn't necessarily mean it's gone.
(Right: sighted again on Nov 17th, doing fine)
