Thanks to Diane Hodges and Kathie Goff
for making me think of how much of "finding" there is in the creating of something.

At least for me
creation is necessarily a very wasteful process
of making more than I will keep
and often keeping that in which I find...
a little bit of suprise for myself, I think:
making something and finding something unexpected in it.
I think that these moments are what I seek.
So it is probably not an accident that I work with found materials
and have headed into the company of botanists
(we are addicted to FINDING, I think)

But then there will surely also be a moment of creation in every finding.
It isn't what it is until we find it... nameable
