Great Hairy American Willow-herb,
Göteborg, January 20th, 2002

Epilobium hirsutum X adenocaulon
Rosen-amerikansk dunört

Willowherbs
are driving me nuts.
particularly the Broad-leaved and the American.

But I like the powerful approach
of their winter buds.

This Great Hairy
made its way ALMOST there:
one of the runners had gone all through the peachpit
holding it fast as I carried.
From the block of light industry
which, although not so appealing in terms of fresh soil
was a logical inclusion in my expanded S-weed domain.

When flowers opened in July
it turned out not to be the pure-bread Great Hairy
but its hybrid with the American.

Willowherbs ARE driving me nuts!
