Liten kardborre: juli,
oktober, februari, april

Eva Ekeblad, 2001

Lesser Burdock, Göteborg, November 22nd, 2001

For the individual presented in July and October
this was its summer of flowers.
I must have overlooked it last fall, in its rosette stage
- hidden in that chink in the kerb,
where it managed to get from start to goal
to the cost of crippled size.

May I introduce, today, a candidate for next year
doing fine, so far, through the intermittent frosts.
The photo is almost two weeks old, from right after that first snow
- but the fresh scan is not much different.
This hapless optimist, however,
resides in the patch of "lawn" by the Ad Pillar
which will, no doubt, be well mown come spring
and tamed into a lawn without scare quotes.

If you would like a more convenient look at the Burdocks together (Lesser and Downy)
please use the sunflower seeds.
