Where the grass is still sparse
around these bushes
there is Hairy Bittercress
doing fine, thank you.

The snap was taken the other day
when it was just gray
not the all-day drizzle we've had today.

After another year
in 2002
the grass is closing in
and there's a lot less of the Bittercress to see.

The Cuckoo Flower leaves
still there in the lawn
- if you know where to look -
by the institutional corner
of the Employment Office across the street.

They looked a lot happier in August.
