Thyme-leaved Sandwort, Göteborg, December 11th, 2001

Arenaria serpyllifolia
Sandnarv i mars, i maj, i augusti och i februari

Eva Ekeblad, 2001

thyme-leaved sandwort
leaves

worth of time
traces in sand
fragility

ribbons of rebus
pillars of strength
pennies from heaven

as a matter of fact, even the local drunks realize this
in their loud comments when I take pictures

Is this the true picture?
and: if so, what is this truth?

This bollard was on its side
this time last year
it's on it's side this time this year as well.
Trust me
and my camera
on that.
Does this spell the truth of neglect
and lack of maintenance?

Might seem so.

I wouldn't put it beyond Them
except that I would:
as much work as has been put into keeping this mall
a paragon of decent appearance
all the man-hours of repair I saw taking place this summer
why should this one bollard have been left down?
Just to satisfy my need for symbols?

So I consult my archives
and the truth is
it was up this summer
with a wreath of weeds.

So what is the truth, here?
a matter of shallow foundations.
