The Hesperis before flowers, in May, I misidentified as Goldenrod - which I had found in roughly this patch in December.

The Lupin had me constantly wondering: weed or cultivated plant. The way this patch was spring cleaned without consideration for the burgeoning Lupins certainly did not look like cultivation.

The Cornflower when it manifested blue last week made me reconsider: this is after all meant to be the flowers of this unkempt bed. And I don't steal cultivated plants - in spite of what some of my neighbours may think when they spot me S-weeding. So I took only pictures.

And I laughed when I saw that somebody else had taken the opportunity to replenish their garden with a Cornflower from this so obviously untended patch - which must, nevertheless, once upon a time, have been intended as a self-maintaining flowerbed.
