Heather   and   Bittersweet, Göteborg, May 9th, 2003

Shaved Heather.

Solanum dulcamara

Calluna vulgaris
Ljung i april, i juli, i september och i januari

An intriguing start of the Lawnmower Season today
on areas managed by the City - this is the first time in 978 days
that I have seen anything done on the Bank by the Ditch.
Now the crown of it has received a shaving - leaving a lush border
of Giant Hogweed on the slope towards the Junk Parking Lot
(which isn't so junky anymore after its reformation).
The Snowberry was run over while the Sweet Briar was spared.
The few S-weed sprigs of Heather grow in the narrow strip of grass
between the Hogweeds and the parking, which also got a shaving.

Since the Heather was so small
- and the S-weeds crowd to get on the Web
the Bittersweet gets to share a page,
although it's from a different patch
or, rather, from TWO other patches:
the woody one is from the unweeded patch of the July sample.
The "herby" one from the much-weeded
(nowadays) spot of the December sample... inbetween and under
the boards of the pergola entrance to the Next Block.
