if the sun had been out
there would have been scattered droplets of butter yellow in the lawn

under the clouds I find a single closed bud

- perhaps I was wearing the wrong spectacles

A year later, another autumn, considerably frostier... that grass looks extraordinarily green (and when did I last see a buttercup?)
...and on the same day in the third autumn I have seen a tired buttercup flower, even after snow and several frosts
